Bradley Wilson of Western Harnett pitched a three-hit shutout as the Eagles took a 5-0 win on Friday night over visiting Lee County in varsity baseball.
The junior right-hander had nine strikeouts and one walk as Western improved to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the Tri-County Six 3-A Conference going into a game at Lee on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
John Paul Taylor was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Eagles. Josh Carter was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Kaleb Denkins, Wilson and Andrew Kelly had hits for Western.
Wilson is 2-1 on the mound with a 1.75 earned run average. He’s hitting .457 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.
WH wins softball in eighth
Western Harnett topped Lee 3-2 in eight innings in varsity softball as Mackinley Melby was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Raynee Redington pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.
Redington allowed seven hits and two walks as the Eagles upped their record to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the Tri-County.
Kasey Genthe and Shelby Duty had two hits each for Western. Destiny Rowan, Kiki McCoy and Redington also had hits in the win.
Madison Farmer and Cassidie Edwards had RBIs for the Eagles.
Lee takes girls soccer
The Yellow Jackets won, 5-0, in girls soccer as Western slipped to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
