Westover pulls away

After a scoreless first half and a tie at 6 going into the fourth quarter, Westover pulled away to a 25-6 All American Conference varsity football victory at Harnett Central on Friday night.

The Trojans knotted the score on a 51-yard scoring pass play from Quan Dixon to Jaequn Plummer with 5:08 left in the third quarter.

The Wolverines (4-1, 1-1 AAC) got the go-ahead touchdown on a 3-yard run by Brandon Avery with 11:08 to go in the fourth quarter. Jadon Rourk (12 yards) and Jaden Johnson (13 yards) had TD receptions from Joshua Jones as the visitors widened the lead.

Central (1-4, 1-1) visits E.E. Smith (1-4, 0-2) on Friday night.
