Williford’s homer yields walk-off win over East Bladen

Campbell signee Chandler Williford hit a 2-run, game-ending home run to left center in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Midway to a 5-4 baseball win over East Bladen on Tuesday as the Raiders earned fifth place in the Bulldog Invitational at Terry Sanford.

Midway improved to 18-1 overall.

Cameron Calcutt also homered for the Raiders.

Williford and Cameron Barefoot each had two hits.

Also getting hits in the win were Carson Calcutt, Brayden Coats, Eli Culbreth and Drew Matthews.

Sawyer Sutton and Culbreth combined to limit East Bladen to three hits.

Midway had four stolen bases, including two by Jonathon Cooper, one by Jaron Register and one by Barefoot.

The Raiders are 10-0 in the East Central 2-A Conference, returning to league play on Monday at James Kenan at 6 p.m.
