Winning day for CFCA in girls tennis, volleyball

Cape Fear Christian Academy met Mid-Carolina Conference member Bradford Academy for the first time in girls tennis on Wednesday with the Eagles taking an 8-1 win at the Mebane Tennis Center.

Singles winners for CFCA (4-1) included Ella Butts at No. 2, Savannah Autry at No. 3, Lily Kate Dupree at No. 4, Addison Lanpher at No. 5 and Ava Jones at No. 6.

A doubles sweep was comprised of victories for Karson Hamilton and Autry at No 1, Glenna McLamb and Maggie Motschenbacher at No. 2, and Alexis Hood and Raylan Hood at No. 3.

The Eagles host the Archers on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Volleyball

CFCA swept nonconference junior varsity and varsity matches Wednesday evening over Father Capodanno at Moore Montessori School in Southern Pines.

The Eagles junior varsity (7-1) took its match by scores of 25-9 and 25-15.

Set scores for the CFCA varsity (4-7) were 25-18, 25-10 and 26-24.

The Eagles host New Garden Friends in a Mid-Carolina Conference varsity doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m.
