RALEIGH — N.C. State scored 21 runs on 23 hits, defeating Campbell 21-4 in baseball Saturday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Nick Swiney (1-0) earned the win, pitching three scoreless relief innings for the 10th-ranked Wolfpack. Michael Horrell (1-1) was charged with the loss, allowing six earned runs over three and one-third innings in his third start of the season.

The Wolfpack hit five home runs, including two by first baseman Evan Edwards who finished 4-for-4 with five RBIs. Catcher Patrick Bailey drove in six runs, hitting 3-for-5 with one homer and two runs scored.

Christian Jones and Zach Minnick posted back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the fourth, becoming the first Campbell teammates to do so since Cole Hallum and Kevin Barron consecutively homered at Gardner-Webb on March 25, 2017.

Matthew Barefoot (2-for-4) posted two singles for his second multi-hit game of the season. The redshirt-sophomore outfielder has now reached base in 12 straight games dating back to last season. Infielder Luis Gimenez (1-for-4) notched a double to extend his hitting streak to four games.

Campbell also recorded a rare triple play in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on first and second, Wolfpack designated hitter Brad Debo lined a ball to shortstop Kyle Mehl, who caught it and tagged second for the force out. Mehl fired the ball to Barron at first for the third out of the inning.

The Camels are back home Sunday, March 4 as Bowling Green visits Buies Creek. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at Jim Perry Stadium.
